    Cold Weather

    1-14-09

As I walk through the cold, my story unfolds
Like I was hustled and snow was the work I was sold
I was conned, lied to with the stories they told
A young man, but these bones hurt as if I were old

When I was young, every day seemed like spring
Felt like a king, Christmas came I got everything
That I wanted it seemed, now it’s so cold it stings
“Let us fight on” is the song that we used to sing

But I grew conflicted as everything shifted
Realized things weren’t the only way I was gifted
Some burdens I had to carry and others were lifted
Lucky enough to have proof that my God existed

And so I go through the snow cause I’m on a mission
To keep my head filled with Godly ambition
On to the act cause I passed my audition
Even though it’s cold I walk despite the conditions

good work. im still in the cold and walking, searching for the heat or warmth of a better life.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
