Children of The Blood Country
babies born of mothers whose blood runs on fear.
slipping soundlessly into a world where there are no tears.
they grow up in the darkness.
possessing minds that will never know the meaning of love and joy.
children fighting for a right in a land where freedon is granted to no one.
it feels like hope is but a myth.
a dream nothing more than a cloud of mist that fades away.
they see through a glass darkly.
struggling to decipher what they cannot change.
a constant fog delays their vision so that they never understand the plight of their destiny.
coming of age in the midst of a civil war.
and what is not learned in school will be the pillars of lessons that guide them on thier path to destruction.
small soldiers dropping books to pick up guns.
running away in the night to a worser tommorrow than that of which they live in a lesser present.
babies grow into men overnight.
children abandon their hearts.
small soldiers toughen up and take flight.
they become killers of thier own.
traveling through and destroying their homes.
driven by some internal force that rages through them.
not comprehending the anger behind the terrified eyes.
all the while that fear withn remains.
it screams out desperately trying to sustain the constant pain.
that loneliness refuses to leave.
it feels fills an endless void letting them know they will never be complete.
their eyes water with tears long ago waiting to be shed.
and as they fall you see the baby crying.
you hear the child wailing.
you see the small soldier dying.
their resistance to the pain weakens and it all
comes spilling oer the edge no longer kept at bay.
they've been broken by a force too great to ignore.
they've been released back into the very lives they never lived.
they've been turned towards the light of a new day and given another chance to be reborn.
they've been freed.
but what remains is the blood that has been spilled at the hands of babies fighting under the minds of men.
and for that they will never be the same children of the blood country
slipping soundlessly into a world where there are no tears.
they grow up in the darkness.
possessing minds that will never know the meaning of love and joy.
children fighting for a right in a land where freedon is granted to no one.
