Poem Commentary

this is tied in with the previous one even though it is a few years older, it's when i was really whacked out my head for alittle bit but at the same time i knew that alot of the things around me were unavoidable.

cars, bars, and mar

This has gone so, so far

that i may never break free of the bars

this force thats stick around, keeps me to the ground

way back then it seemed so right

but now i pay the price, that price is mar

I am not sorry for the little things i did

because you opened your mouth and sucked me in

and i tried to make amends

amends to you would lead to sin

and yet i almost let it suck me in

  Stay away, fade to grey

i can no longer live this way

you will see what you have done

you will see it once i won

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
