Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem as a form of self expression with the deep thought of every artist on earth and how we can be interpreted to others! Little do they know, our minds remain.... in Deep Thought!

Blue Leaves

What would be the strangest thing
To see upon this earth
A baby born to a home that's torn
Or a baby torn at birth
So many times I've tried to make sense
Of this cruel and selfish place
And so many times I've had those lines
Shoved right back in my face
Come look through my eyes I invite you to see
A worn and abused soul
Then travel deeper to my inner-self
And you'll see a heart turned cold
So when you return you'll have no questions
or be able to place any blame
For my actions emit what's mentally fit
or as you say what's morally sane
See I'm a tree in this forest or should I say
I'm a man just like you
And I'm not color-blind, I see colors fine
but for some reason my leaves are blue
Is it because what is and was
 will unfortunately always be
or is it because I'm a different tree
And I look deep into the meaning of "me"
What ever the reason, I'm cool with that
I will accept a little fault for now
As long as you don't mind holding my leaves
when they're down on your precious ground
You see that's when you display or create a certain hate
for anything different than you
Instead of being optimistic and saying
blue leaves may be something new
Maybe I'm the first in the forest to bear such leaves
but nah that couldn't be
you think because i shed blueberry beds
then i must be a rotten-ass tree
Well once again I invite you to see
Through the eyes as seen through me
One day you'll understand, that a tree is a man
and this man is a tree with blue leaves

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
