Bitterness of truth

Bitterness of truth

While roses are red,
and violets are blue,
evil seems sweeter
than the bitterness of truth,

While the moon does shine,
and the sun rays are bright,
the children of man play
in the darkness, without light,

While the wind does blow
and the sea make waves
man has rejected you
yet, you love us as babes

Surely, you are the path, and the life
but, forgive us, Father, for many crave the flesh
more than they crave your Christ.

that was an excellent bit. Really drew me in, I had no idea where this was going until the end, and I must say i was quite pleased.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
