Before the Sun Goes Down

Before the Sun Goes Down

Rather quite early i retired
From my hearts sweet desires-
Reading about things under the sun,
Writing true tales that make brave hearts run.
Like a punch on the right eye,
I was pushed to quench the fire.
And for such a long time my heart did cry
As i let this fire run dry.

But again i have been punched
This time for the right reason.
For while i gave room for the flesh to surface,
I was oblivious; unaware of the season.
Distracted and Amused
Addicted and Confused,
Indulging in the fruits of those fulfilling their destiny
24, House, Prison Break and Lost
Smallville, Heroes
Housewives, Models and Dancers.
For as i watched;
A victim of their 'pen' shaping lives,
I let mine receed 10,000 miles.
They crippled my mission when they stole my time,
They blurred my vision when they seduced my heart.
For in love i was with this dealy addiction.

Fortunate i am to have repented and frowned,
Realising the emptiness and the 'weight' occupied
By these deceptions that revive millions
That are young and talented
But helplessly retire
Far too early
Before the sun goes down.

I really enjoyed your poem. Keep that fire burning and putting your thoughts to pen and paper. You have a true talent but always remain true to yourself and your style of writing. Write for yourself, first and foremost, the rest will follow.
