before the knock
poem by Tami for Simon... 10/2/08
In a world where
death can claim us
in the blink of an eye
where death shows no prejudice
should we not embrace each other more?
smell more flowers?
eat more chocolate?
run along the beach more?
make cupcakes
play in the mud
play with our children?
should we not jump in puddles?
or kiss each other more?
should we not say i love you more?
or see old friends more often?
Look at the stars more?
If every breath is deep
every word is true
and every day fully lived and cherished
it would be ok on the day that death comes knocking
In a world where
death can claim us
in the blink of an eye
where death shows no prejudice
should we not embrace each other more?
smell more flowers?
eat more chocolate?
run along the beach more?
make cupcakes
play in the mud
play with our children?
should we not jump in puddles?
or kiss each other more?
should we not say i love you more?
or see old friends more often?
Look at the stars more?
If every breath is deep
every word is true
and every day fully lived and cherished
it would be ok on the day that death comes knocking
