    Beautiful Memories

As the light from the morning sun shines in
And the birds start singing their tune
Thoughts of my past start rushing in
And I find myself smiling soon.
    My heart begins to flutter
And my eyes start to shine
As I am filled with memories
That will only grow sweeter with time.
I begin to think of my childhood
How I would go outside to play
And how I learned to ride my bike
When dad let go that day.
I remember my mom hugging me close
As she would kiss away my pain
And I remember thinking that one sweet day
I would be doing the same.
Beautiful memories just flood my soul
    And there they will remain
So that I can reach a greater happiness
As I travel down memory lane.

This was a really great piece. I had a good time reading it.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
