As I Sit

AS I SIT    by: Terry A. Jones

As I sit and think of
days yet past
I sometimes feel , I will not last
Then a vision, a special cast
Shoots out
So bright, so vast

I feel a warmth, a desire so real
I look around , yet cannot see
This deep down feeling, engulfing me
and then the pain strikes heavily
Once again alone

The days have past
I seem to last
but all seems seemingly
To me

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
