    Another Man

I pushed her, into the arms of another man,
    Vexatiously, now here I stand.
Meditating, over the course of time,
Wishing the past, I could rewind.
Of all the pain, hurt, and lies,
I wish her heart, I could revive.
Because of me, we no longer remain,
Without her, my life isn't the same.
    Wishing, I had another chance,
I would love her, beyond romance.
It's killing me, to think we're done,
She's my moon, rain, air, and sun.
The very essence that I breathe,
How could I be so naive?
Now I realize, the true fact,
No matter what, she had my back.
A love and tie so strong,
She was like blood in my bone.
That old cli-che' it is no lie,
U don't miss the water, until the well run dry.
I realize, and I do understand,
I pushed her, into the arms of another man.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
