    ANGEL UNAWARE

    THE CHILLY WIND WAS BLOWING
AS THE SNOW BEGAN TO FALL
YET NO ONE SEEMED TO NOTICE
THE OLD MAN HUDDLED AGAINST THE WALL

HIS COAT WAS WORN AND TATTERED
    FROM MANY YEARS OF WEAR
YET STILL THE PEOPLE PASSED HIM BY
    AS THO HE WASN`T THERE

NOT ONE PERSON TOOK THE TIME
TO ASK THE OLD MAN IN
WHILE THEY WERE WARMING BY THE FIRE
HE WAS HUDDLED AGAINST THE WIND

THE OLD MAN NEVER SAID MUCH
THE WORDS HE SPOKE WERE FEW
    SIMPLY FATHER PLEASE FORGIVE THEM
FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO

This poem is very touching and thought provoking!! I love it!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
