    Poem Commentary

I wrote this during my first tour of duty 1968 to 1969.

    An American Fighting Man

    I’m an American fighting man

    Serving my country in Vietnam

As I cross the dark battlefield

My life for my country I shall yield

And if for my country I should die

Let young Americans never ask why

I will die for my country young and strong

To protect her from all wrong.

This is a very powerful poem, it shows your love for your country and our freedom.I have served my country as well. But you are the true soldier and because of you, My family and I can live in freedom with out fear. Thank you for sharing your poem and so much more.

Thank you and thank you for your service to our country.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
