AMERICA

A is for the ancestors so bold and brave,
M is for the miracles of crops grown well.
E is for the exercise in hand dug graves.
R is for the rich land bought with sweat, callouses and tears.
I  is for the innocent blood shed to build this land in fear.
C is for the courage gained from battles large and small.
A is for the attitude inspired in all for one and one for all.

You spelled out your patriotism very well. Nice write. A. W. Nutter www.freewebs.com/abcedit

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
