    AGOG!

    The morning sun was bashfully perched down the horizon,

    Frantically wrestling itself from slumber.

    The drowsy star stole her splendid silhouette

    With its tepid beams

    And sprouted it my way,

    As if to dare me with its priceless catch.

    I could hardly resist the ruse;

    I stood crystallized...

    But I dared a peek:

    She was framed like the fabled Aphrodite,

    Her manners arresting, palatial…

    Her smile dainty like a deity;

    I was driven beyond the threshold.

    Stricken, I yielded to my first fitful passion:

    Just stare in awe!

    Ahhhh beauty and the desire it evokes. What the writer saw and what I saw as a reader was different. They saw Aphrodite, I saw Bathsheba. I was certainly ready to send her husband to the front lines. Smile dainty like a deity was my favorite line. Imagery was on point. I could see her. Question...what's up with the crystallization???? LOL.

    Afrique, This poem's title is so clever. Your phraseology and word choices are splendid. I thoroughly enjoyed the nuances in this one. ginga
