    ♥ Daddy ♥

You are a great dad, as good as can be
You threw away your army dreams to be a father to me.
You were tough and always stood your ground, but you showed me lots of love and you made me who I am.
I love you so much, nobody will ever take that away, but daddy I still hurt from the words I once heard you say. 1987 was the year, I remember it like yesterday, your words were so clear. I was in my room playing with my dolls, when I heard you yell my name followed by a short pause, you and mama were arguing so I knew it wasn't good, I ran into the living room and in front of you is where I stood. Mama mumbled something from across the room and you didn't like her words so you began to cuss, in return I looked at you and said, "daddy, why do you always have to fuss? You looked at me with a sigh, I'll never forget the look in your eye, when the words came out that broke my heart, little did I know for the rest of my life I'd be falling apart. I'm not your daddy, is what you said, so I ran into my room and crawled onto my bed, crying my eyes out and wondering why, but now I'm old enough to know you weren't telling me a lie. So thank you for the truth and for all of your time, and daddy don't ever forget that in my heart you will always be mine.
