A Wedding Poem
Distant branches in tangerine sky
Candyfloss vapours trail up high.
Children squeal in delighted glee
To see your love, your entity,
Angels sigh to sound of dove
Two people are wed in matrimonial love.
Friends stand by from close and afar
To witness your seal a very high bar;
There will be winters of cold and grey
Where the nights are dark, and there is no day.
Stand firm and strong in times of sadness
Smile and laugh in times of gladness.
Plant your feet in the meringue-capped snow
Above, stars wink in deepest indigo.
For your heads give shoulder to one another
Whisper your love to your lover.
At times it will be like tree without leaf
Keep your love - keep your belief.
The buds will always bloom again
For they always need sun and rain.
Rejoice in time of summer’s rays
Long and balmy warming days;
When flower and fly dance a serenade
Fishing by lake in mighty oak shade.
Don’t forget to hold each other’s hand
Carve ‘I love you’ in sea-swept sand.
And now two become one for life together
All around know it’s for the better.
Enjoy the day, family, friends and their love
For your marriage is sanctified from angels above.
