A Sudden Death

A Sudden Death
To: Micheal Novak Jr. (my brother) & Doris Shanley (Grandmother) 2005

I shall not grieve for thee:
Although this has put my own life in jeopardy.
Who will be my companion? Who will be my friend?
Who will be with me to share this world we live in?
I don't understand this grieve yet to be -
but I can assure you this is not easy for me.
I realize this is better than suffering;
It hurt me more than this-
To see you in such agonizing bliss;
I'll see you one glorious day; you'll see,
There is a mansion waiting for me:
In a place where everyone is truly free!
And I'll be waiting there for you;
In a beautiful mansion by the sea!

My Brother was very dear to me. As most siblings always fight, but NOONE could EVER replace him. My GrandMother was The DEAREST. ALways understood and helped me along the road of roughness. To this day I miss them dearly. I wish they were still here!!!! : (

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
