A Moment of Peace

A Moment of Peace

Just for an hour,
Let me experience wonder
As a child with new sight.
Just for a moment,
Let my gaze wander
Unhindered by flesh.

Just for a day,
With no barrages
Of our superior everything,
Simple things, simple things,
Why are they gone
From my dreams, visions.

Just for a while,
Let me bask, soundless.
No smoke or sky or fire
To turn me aside.
Let me drift a minute
In my own thoughts,
No peace in technology.

Let wonder and wander through my own life,
As I would, where I would, on my own ground.
Let me lift myself beyond the trifles of comfort.
Let me breathe pure air up where no one's around.

Bane
A moment's peace. No sounds or sights or smells, just you. Sound heavenly? How long has it been for you?

A moment of peace, indeed is what everybody needs. I enjoyed reading your poem. It reflects our cravings to be with one self, alone and undisturbed. Keep it up!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
