A broke mothers temptation

He said: Everyone has to sooner or later it's know big deal, just spread your legs or give a little head for bread to make it.

I though on that for a minute and asked, well whats the price of self respect cause mine is priceless?

He said: Only a square would think like that, that a weeks pay check wouldn't compare to an hour on my back.

So I asked: How would I feel then when i got through or how could I face my daughter's or be someone my son could look up to?

He said: What they don't know won't hurt them you act as if your committing a sin, like thief's and murderers but all you'd be doing is spending time with a few lonely men.

So I thought: The money sounded good I could keep it all quit but my soul spoke and said " don't you dare buy it, keep doing what you do cause Most High has always made a way for you".
So when I looked up to say NO in his face there in the darkness stood the devil in his place.

wow... powering... i love the ending to this. the story itself is powering... any significance to this writing?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
