A Birthday of A Afro American (KING)

This man stood up strong, fearless and tall
He did this action for one and all
There was a premonition that he had , which he called his dream
This was to him what he thought or this may have been what it seem

He was a man that refuse to be treated as anything less
The refusal of being considered second best
There were some who put stumbling blocks ,such as crosses  were burning
He knew of the many things that certain people were going thru as well as yearning

He had the respect and admiration from followers of many
This was done by quite a group but there were some who would not give him any
His dream was fullfilled in such a treacherous way
His Country refused to acknowledging his birthday but we got it recognized anyway

On January the fifteenth , this day will be acknowledged by all
Let them be white, black and all colors of the rainbow to recall
This man tried to eliminate racism and any kind of hate
He got the wheels to turning even though he knew his fate

It was a celebration of an Afro American King
The young and old knew what day really had  come to mean
Oh, there were many who tried to erase his vision as well as his Dream
We had to get them to remember his day, Here's to you

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
