You thought I was gone

From the abyss of the dark halls of this site,
I have walked in silence away from the word's fight.
I have uttered few words about where I went,
for that matter I tore open some rules and others I bent.
Booted off 21st for being bold and wanting what was fair,
I was shamed and shunned from all in despair.
My mother and my foot is not around,
and the voice from that point was in lost and found.
Still I managed to hone my craft for all to see,
the text I wrote to set my soul free.
.Dreams can come true and deeds can be done if one really tries,
and hoping in this book it gives advice to the weak minded and wise.
I have finished a life long goal that I set,
and wrote of thoughts of hope and regret.
It is not my world but our world that is written and done,
for alas I have completed book number one.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
