Group Project: Life as a Child

Hello fellow poets. This is Sydney. I am asking you to help pull together poems about any subject for my cousin whos turning 4 years old this May. It has to be age appropriate for her to read. It can be educational, funny, sad, etc. It could be any subject such as: colors, animals, kids tv shows, personal experiance, shapes, etc. But keep it simple. Sometimes, my cousin has a short attention span as any child can be. you dont have to write a poem. You can write a story or think of ideas of poems or stories. This being a group project, I am allowing you decide whether or not this group project can be turned into a book for people to buy or just do this for fun.

RE: Group Project: Life as a Child

This is for a child.......
Growing up so fast..........
Now turning four......
Have fun, while your young and it last....

Take in the beauty........
Of the things all around you....
In all that you see.....
Now try to remember the age two....

Make people laugh.....
They cry enough on their own....
When you turn five.....
Tell them you have grown...

Only by one more year.....
But I'm still so cute...
Happy birthday cheer..
Now just give me the lute....

Happy Birthday !

RE: Group Project: Life as a Child

Should we sing happy birthday.......
Should we bake a cake....
Should we stay.....
Up all night awake.....

Getting the party ready......
Blowing up balloons...

Party hats and more......
Whistles,games,and gifts.......
Your love ones for you they adore......

So here is just a few words.......
That are just for you......

Enjoy your day....
Family,friends,love and gifts......
Play,play,play.......
I hope this write.....
Your spirit it lifts.........

*With-In A Dream*

If only I could ride upon the back of a dragonfly~
O', what journey I shall behold...

I receive the wind's forced breath against my face-
And revel as my locks roll in the vibrant sunlight.
We hover just above a splash of rainbow painted flowers,
That kiss my toes with open petals of joy.
The sweetness of their beauty-
Shall decorate my skin forevermore.

We crest high into the ocean tinted sky.
Humbly greet birds which share in our gift,
And delight us in symphonies of angelic praise.

We dance through a vineyard of bumble bees-
"Buzz,Buzz," They caution sternly to us, their unexpected visitors.
A smile imposes my lips at the thought of their disrupted task;
Only to pass them, look over my shoulder, and witness their purpose resume within natural elegance.

A shimmering mirror of water lies underfoot.
The warm embrace of the sun's reflection casts under our joined form.
"Faster, faster!" I command my fairy-friend.

With quick, steady pace, we descend onto the water's surface.
Skips and twists- twirl into a tango of splashes,
Showering my face with each perfectly, intentional bounce.
A tickle rises up from deep in my belly,
I laugh a laugh, full of true obliviation.
Dragonfly now lifts, higher and higher we go-
As I glide upon heavenly stilled wings.

We drift thro' utopian clouds,
Like vapored curtains before a theater of whimsy ready to unveil a masterpiece~they pass our sights
The presented gift, is that of majestic mountain tops that promise the scent of sweetly perfumed evergreen.
This aroma leaves me breathless,
Evoking childhood visions of wishing stars,
and kisses goodnight.
I inhale the memory for a moment longer,
Cherishing the scent of yesteryear.

I feel the breeze become only a whisper
My charmed-companion slows to a transcending idol.
Encircling the center of a noble rose;
We descend gently into the heart of the queen of flowers,
Softly landing on her royal stage.
I delicately climb down, and lay upon her silk;
I closed my eyes to dream.
A fantasy, which has atlas' transpired-
To become, my long awaited reality.

If only I could ride upon the back of a dragonfly~
O', what journey I shall behold...
