You read it, unless you consider yourself a nobody. I think that counts. Now the real question is: if a poem falls in a forest and there is no one around to hear it, while a wood chuck is chucking wood then how many pickled peppers can you eat in a fifteen minute period.

I thought I would get a little more educated reply to the hypothetical question, Mr. Ink.
If a monkey would start reading poetry, it would Eventually read every poem there was.

Well, Michael, there is no ingognitoism with your pen name. Hey, you got the drift, and added some comical lines. Keep that attitude up to par, Mr. Tierney.................................gogant

Well, okay...so, if nobody reads my poem, Embittered Embers, will the woods be filled with hollow sounds ? But, if other poets read it, then it will be a poem...

Now, see there, Marck...you leave me breathless with your comment about my poem that is, but you leave me no choice but to add...you might be better looking if that horn of yours did happen to fall off....nyak, nyak.

I'll bet even-money that you will run off and construct another of your infamous poems with our last posts.

Happy sailing...came a small voice from the mooring docks, as Mr. Ink and his nostrils holder dissolved among the foamy waves...

Re: Is a poem, really a poem, after all...?

And aye, it were of these waves rolling under the broad bow of the Spinakker
That one could see his long lost gaze to sail, would be drawn to another vessel,
Such a Shining mariner's vision, if only she could be his delivery of passage...
but, alas his great main sheet of a nose, would permit no dream alive,
and hence, turned down his sight, to the water's white-frothed offerings
once, and again as in times past, used it to guide the noble ship. shock

Very witty reply Mr. Tierney.

Yeah, Caity, I got a kick out of Mr. Tierney's post, and Mr. Ink's too...truly creative. And, yes I can be quite melodramatic when the occasion arises.
Did you post any new poems, my dear ?

There are many things that I am.

Re: Is a poem, really a poem, after all...?

Of course it is, but begging for a glance is very unflattering.

Yeah, epik, that is so true...but most of us here in OP try to get others to read our poetry, and this is one of the ways...

wink........................................................gogant

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
