yet battling on
I search for my kingdom
I long for my throne
these scars i adorn
only prove true the perils
of battles i've won
while making my home
a home where? "you ask"
In the eye of the storm
somewhere inside the wild whirlwinds
where thundering tempests thrive and spin
I wander
watching from within
surving till the battles end
though enveloped by violent winds
I've yet to fall or falter

I'm closing up the door
your voice heard nevermore.
surrender onto me.

What Lies Beneath The Sur-Face

What lies beneath the Sur-Face – is not what you see on one’s face,
For instance a smile can be a frown – depending on the time or place.
You might see a person looking sad – like their world has fallen apart,
Maybe it’s because they feel for you – the one with a broken heart.
You witness a child who’s crying – you sense that something is wrong,
But then you see the parent’s there – not moved for these tears belong.
An individual is talking no one is there – seems strange and crazy today,
You inquire about and then find out – they were taking a moment to pray.
Look in the mirror and see yourself – and a lot is taking place,
No one knows what’s going on – just by the look on one’s face.
Some faces reveal the very truth – expressing how a person may feel,
Don’t assume ask if you must – what lies beneath for real?

You can’t judge a book by its cover,

Re: Picture Poetry

I can't write like that, but I'd like to see an artist's inspiration from one of my poems...that could be a nice collaboration.

Re: Picture Poetry

This is a grand idea. You need to put the pictures you want everyone to write about on the Challenge page. Have several people write about the same form of art. Writing as an art form about another art form is called Ekphrasis, It was used by ancient Greeks. It is a wonderful way to write a poem from sculpture, dance, paintings, drawings, music. With the internet at our disposal a URL could be left to connect with an art form other than just an image, you could use a dance, music or whatever you want as a reference point for creating a new art piece that is formed off the other art form. Even other forms of writing can be used. Or more than one art form can be used to create a single ekphrastic piece of poetry.

Ekphrasis is very different from illustrating a poem with a drawing, painting or photo. It creates a new art form from the feelings that are left in the viewer from the experience of the other art form. It is the higher concept of Art giving rise to Art. It's not the concept of illustration but the amplification and expansion perception. There are a couple national poetry publications that only publish ekphrasis poems.

Thanx for sharing the images. I will definitely write from them.

Of slowly unmasking
Pure depth oh goddess
Stand proud, believe me

Re: Picture Poetry

BROKEN PIECES

When you are broken how do you ever put yourself together again?

I can tell you how I learned and believe me its no easy job!
I guess you just have to pick up and start over of course is easier said then done.

I walked through life with so much hate hoping I could let it go one day.
It took awhile but it came.

Let me tell you it's no way to live it kill's you inside and pushes everyone else away and that is no joy.

But I stood back and looked at the mirror and didn't like what I could see.
I'm telling you this because this is the journey I lived,

I spent alot of my life hating someone who hurt me bad then I realiezed it was not me it was him,

What I am saying you can't walk through life hating other's it will only make you sick and even hate yourself,

No this does not rhyme it's the way a woman found herself again and hope's to never loose her way,

Yes he's getting out but know I have no fear I have GOD with me and it's not my time to leave this place.

So I keep looking up that's what you have to do knowing GOD'S always looking after you.

And knowing that you can alway's stay strong even when you think thing's are wrong,

So i'll try and put myself together again alway's staying strong!

SHANNON

I love this idea I hope it keep's going. I wondered where you went.

A LIFE WITH MANY FACES

Through this life I have had to live many face's most not mine just away to survive.

We can be hurt so bad we hide the real us and make a new face so we are protected in many way's.

But one thing I have learned that's no way to live because if you can't be you there is nothing to give!

I have walked long enough hidden the real me this has to stop to some digree!

But what do you do when you have alway's changed faces? In fear if you show your true self it will be taken with nothing else?

Im not sure im ready yet it's my way to stay safe, so for now there will be many faces and i'm sure you all know why.

But the shannon is alway's alive maybe a different face, but my heart I will never hide!

SHANNON

This give's us a chance to see how far our mind can take us thank you so much!
